Tomorrow is going to be a very sad day for Evelyn and I. Tomorrow Jake goes back to school. Evelyn and I will be in my bed pouting and wanting Jake to come back and play with us. (Semi happy day for me though, first day being home all day with my little girl!)

Another semester of school....

has started for Jake. So weird. Hard to get into a new routine. I try to wake up early with Jake (5 flippin AM) to make sure we both get a good breakfast before we leave for the day. I'm slowly turning into a morning person which I guess is good since I hear I wont be getting much sleep after the babe is born. Oh well. Jake and I were anticipating an e-mail from BYU and we finally heard! Jake has been accepted for the winter semester! I knew of course he would make it but he just likes to have a back up plan. To update people, Jake has switched his major from Finance to Electric Engineering. Lets just say it's a good thing he likes math because he will be taking at least 5-6 semesters worth of math at BYU. Goodbye hubby, hello math homework. Good thing we have a little bit before that starts.

Sometimes I find myself missing school...

 and then I see Jake studying for his licensing exam, school and getting ready for finals. 

Then I find myself not missing school.

These papers that he is holding are just for his Home and Auto licensing. 

Can we please have a normal schedule?

For the past couple of weeks, (more like months) Jake and I, (but mostly Jake) have felt like robots. Monday through Thursday Jake gets up, goes to work, goes to school and comes home late at night. Monday through Thursday I grudgingly get up, (I like my sleep. A lot) go to work, come home and miss Jake. However, today is the final for his block class which he has been studying for like crazy! Which means Tuesday and Thursday we will both be sitting down for a nice dinner together at a decent time. Thank goodness. His class is real estate. I was quizzing him last night and had no idea what I was reading in front of me. Hopefully his final goes well and we are throwing a party after he is done!

Lucky us!

I totally caught myself crying this morning when Jake left for work AND school. Until October he will be gone Monday - Thursday until 8:30 at night. When I sit and think about it, it's not too bad because I work till about 5:30 anyways. But coming home to an empty apartment and not having him there is making me a little sad. On a happy note, we were able to get all of his school books for under $200! Yeah that was amazing! I felt kinda bad when I heard another married couple in our ward spent almost $900 dollars on books. Come on bookstores! Like school isn't already expensive. Thankfully Jake and I received a grant for more than we were hoping for so both semesters will be payed for with extra. That was a huge relief for us!

So Jake and I love to play games and we both learned a new game over the weekend called Puerto Rico. I have seen it at my grandpa's house but never bothered to learn it because it looked boring. It was totally confusing at first but I picked it up fairly quick and so did Jake. Needless to say it is now on our list of games to buy when we have extra money!

Coming alive

Provo is coming alive again. Pedestrians are popping up all over the place. More cars populate the road. There is a longer line in Costa and Zupas. Where I could go running on my own sidewalk by myself, I now have to share. Unfortunately this means that school is looming around the corner.

However....this also means that football season is on its way.

FINALS ARE DONE!!!

Oh man today is the best day ever. Finals always take it out of me and to say they are done is like a ginormous weight off my shoulder. It feels fantastic. Easiest semester I have ever had and probably will ever have. Sad day. Now I finally have time to do some Christmas shopping which I haven't even started. I know I am totally behind. Don't judge. I did get to go to my bro's high school Christmas concert with the fam which was so fun! Brought back so many memories and made me miss choir even more! I saw so many friends that I haven't seen in years. Some are getting ready to turn in mission papers, some are home from missions, some are engaged....some are working their butt off in school like me....seriously it's crazy. Megan gets home from Idaho this Friday so we will finally have the whole family together! Christmas time is the best.

Speaking of Christmas time, I've noticed that there are more crazy drivers around this time of year. Running red lights like no other! Relax people. You still have time to get that perfect gift. Or not so perfect gift.

Ebelskiver

One of my last assignments in my "stupid" computer class was to make a 2-4 minute movie either making something or selling something. First of all I can't sell anything worth beans. So I decided to do a movie making something.

Making ebelskivers particularly.

Ebelskivers are a classic treat in Denmark and are light round pancakes that can be made like this....

You can make them filled with jam, curd, fruit, or covered with yummy caramel syrup with powdered sugar sprinkled over top. I chose the last one because I didn't have time to fill it with yummy goodness. I shall try another day though. Oh how I love cooking. I think I found what I am going to do this next semester when I am not in school. Yes that's right! No school for me. For now at least. I am done with everything. Everything. I now have to just wait patiently until I get into my program.

Crave

Is it bad that I already want this semester to be over with? Not that it's been a hard semester or anything. I have notta to complain about there. I'm just done taking these silly classes. I want to tackle to real deal. I crave to be doing clinicals. Probing. Scaling. Anything. I'm sure my mind set will change once I am doing clinicals. But for right now....

I crave it.

Halloween this weekend! I am going to party-it-up Flapper style!

So today I decided it was a good day to kick my dislike of running in the butt. Well I take that back....I don't dislike running, I am just not very good at it yet. Usually I hate running outside because it's so dang hot and I don't last very long, but last night I ran with my roommate around Provo which was perfect because it was just a tad chilly. Perfect running weather. Today I needed a break from homework so I went for a run outside. I ended up running 4.68 miles and it felt great. I loved running through all the leaves that were on the ground. Hearing a "crunch" each time I took another step. It was hard not to jump into the many piles of leaves that the BYU work crew had piled together as I passed them. There was one huge long hill that just about killed me but I made it. Unfortunately it's now back to homework. I have been so bad at procrastinating lately. It's not good.

Multitasking

Okay I will admit, I am quite good at the art of multitasking.

• Ran during lunch break. I knew I had no time after working to exercise and I wanted a little fresh air.
• Worked on one of my papers while waiting for a patient to get numb.
  
• Had dinner with a dear friend. Both of our schedules have been too busy to actually get together.
• Helped dear friend make cookies for a boy while watching a movie and eating our dinner.
• Watched the movie while working on the other paper. I maybe actually payed attention to the first and last part of the movie.
• Took 2 tests while eating a lot of the cookies.
  

Two papers, Two tests, movie and dinner with a friend....all in one day. I'm glad to know that my larger corpuos callosum is being put to good use. I learned: Women tend to have a larger corpus callosum, which is a part of the brain that handles the communication between the two hemispheres. It's just a theory but I think it's a pretty good one!

A More Perfect Union

Today in my history class, my teacher FINALLY handed us back our graded tests and reviews. I had been waiting to find out my score for a while now!

Aced it.

That just made my day. After we all got our tests back he turned on a movie for us to watch. A More Perfect Union. Gotta love when teachers put on movies. I actually do watch them though because I love history, no matter what era it is. As I was watching the movie I remembered that my grandpa Crosland is in this film as John Adams. It was so fun to watch him in this movie and to see him do what he loved. Acting. My grandpa taught theatre at BYU and Weber for many years and directed many plays. I definitely inherited my love of theatre from him.

Nothing Better

This weekend was grand for many reasons.

1. My dad took me four wheeling up in the mountains. Oh how I have missed that. Our family would go four wheeling all the time! The scenery was beautiful. I can't believe how fast Autumn comes and goes. I tried to take as much in as I could while driving around.
2. My car is finally clean. Oh boy was it dirty.
3. Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
4. A dear roommate, her mom, her grandma, my mom and I, all went out to the Blue Iguana, (yum...) and then went to Women's Conference at the Conference Center. Some very good talks were shared there.
5. BYU won their game!
6. Visit from a cousin that I haven't seen in a while.
7. A call from my roommate who is in Germany.
8. Started and finished a paper that was due Friday!
   
9. Time with the family.

There is nothing better than a fun weekend with your family and dear friends.

Books

I remembered why I have to hide all my books when school starts this weekend.
I started a book called Hunger Games a little bit before school started and LOVED it! This weekend, the second book, Catching Fire, came out and my little sister bought it. She however needed to re-read the first book. I begged and begged her to let me just read her book. I read books very very fast and told her I would most definitely be done before she finished. She gave up and let me read. I pretty much inhaled the book. I started reading the book Friday afternoon, and finished it Saturday. Those of you who know me, when I start a good book, I can't put it down until I finish it.

Well I woke up this morning in panic because I remembered a paper in my theatre class that I should've been working on this weekend. I have to watch a Shakespeare play and write a paper about it. I didn't worry about it too much because I had all weekend to do it.

It's now Monday. Where did the weekend go?

Avoid

You know when you need to work on something but are avoiding it by doing other mundane things? Well I have run out of things to do. Hence this post. All my fun homework is done. What's left on the agenda for today is my computer class.

You all know how I feel about this class.

Plus I just found out that I do have to write a term paper on computer hardware. That's.....going to be a fun paper.

Practical PC for Dummies

So I have to take this computer class online to finish up my generals. I purchased my books for the class and started going over chapter 1. After a bit of reading, I made sure that I got the right book because this seemed way, WAY too easy.

Nope. It's the right book.

Chapter 1 contains:
1. Where's the power switch?
2. What is a mouse and keyboard?
3. How do I turn my computer off?
4. What if my computer asks me for a password?

I'm paying these people how much to teach me how to turn on and off my computer? This is absolutely ridiculous. I looked ahead a couple of chapters to see if it gets any harder and I came across chapter 7.

Chapter 7 contains:
1. What is the internet?
2. What's an IP address?

I was complaining to my dad how stupid this was, and he brought up how ironic it was that here chapter 7 is teaching you what the internet is and and how to use it, when you would have to know that already to actually get to this class because it's online!!! Can you see why I am annoyed?

First

Well this weekend has been quite something. My first day of school was Wednesday, and I started out the day with my 7:oo am history class. You all probably think I am crazy, but actually it hasn't been quite that bad. I really enjoy learning about history and my teacher is pretty funny. I guess he does war reenactment for a living and he likes to bring in guns for us to look at which I think is pretty cool. Today he brought in a Colt revolver...(?) I'm not exactly sure.

Oh back to my first day of school, I ended the day with my very first concert...EVER! I know how embarrassing huh? I'm 20 and I am just getting around to a concert. I can now check that one off my bucket list! I have gone to my fair share of orchestra, choir, and John Schmidt concerts, but those don't really count. We went to go see Nickleback, which to be quite honest, I'm not a huge avid fan. I knew a couple of his songs so that was fun because I could actually sing along. They put on a great show! Fireworks included. I will say I have never ever seen so much beer, or heard the "f" word so much in my entire life! I was shocked! I guess I kinda expected it at a concert, but man! It was like every other word. There was a really REALLY annoying girl that was sitting behind me that had a scream like no other. It reminded me of when my cousin and I would have a contest every 4th of July to see who could lose their voices during a screamer firework. I don't remember who won but that's what it sounded like.

Last Hurrah

This weekend, I got together with my roommates from Weber to do a little last hurrah before school started for all of us. We spent the whole day at Lagoon and had such a fun time. We ran into a lot of people that we knew too which was fun! One of my roommates is completely afraid of roller coasters, or more so afraid of heights. We tricked her into going on Re-Entry first. Haha she was freaking out sooo bad. But she survived and because we started with that one, she felt like she could do everything else. I think we went on almost every single ride. Although we didn't make it to the Samari, which was totally okay by me. Went on that once and just about puked.

Saturday, Jamie and I did some "awkward shopping" for our friend who was just getting married. Her wedding reception was in Randolph....yeah had no idea where that was. Took us about two hours to get there! We even had to go through Wyoming! The reception was beautiful. Jamie and I stood out like two sore thumbs though. The invitation did say casual so we both wore jeans, and dressed it up a little bit. As we walked up, eyes turned to look at us. Almost everyone was in a cow boy hat, Wranglers, and cow boy boots. We looked like a bunch of city slickers. Driving back was the scariest drive, and longest drive ever. The highway that we were on was not lit at all. Pitch black. Jamie and I had never been so happy to see a semi! We would speed up and catch up to the semi and then just chill behind and let them light the way. Eventually one would leave for a pit stop and we would be on our own. We made it home safely, crashed, and went to bed. It was a great weekend. Now I have to think of all the things I need to get done before school starts. I was excited for school to start, but now that it's just around the corner, I'm have second thoughts. We will see how this first week goes!

Farewell

Sadly, this summer is coming to an end very quickly. It's been an odd summer with weird weather, but it's also been a great one. I'm ready for some change though. This next semester comes to me with mixed feelings. I'm really excited for the semester to start because I like being in a routine, sometimes I actually like school, getting to meet more people is always great, and this will probably be the easiest semester I have ever had, which I definitely need. I'm not looking forward to this semester because I like going to seven peaks every day. I like being able to sleep in and not have to worry about anything. I enjoy being able to hang out with my friends. I usually become a hermit during the school semester so don't expect to see much of me. I am also not looking forward to my 7 am class. I am sooo not a morning person.

It's weird to think this is my third year of college. Wow!
