People Placed

You know those people who you know you were just meant to meet and have them be a part of your life? Heavenly Father has a funny way of placing certain people in your life when you need them. Well I believe that these two have been placed in my life for that reason. These two have been there during my first college years when you are on your own and sometimes feel alone, been there for my first real relationship and heart ache, first crush on a teacher, all shared the same creepy stalker, first talk in a singles ward, first time practically living in the library studying, first and certainly not the last CES fireside on marriage, first finals week....the list goes on and on. These two know me better than anyone else besides my family. I am so grateful to have met these two wonderful girls. They have always been there for me. I can't wait to live with them again up in Ogden as we continue with our medical careers!

Apartment nonsense

So to explain why I am really happy right now, I need to go back a month or so when we were rudely woken up by a police officer at our apartment early in the morning. Ha ha he was probably knocking on our door for 6 min. because none of us really heard him. Well eventually one of us got up and answered the door. He asked us about our neighbors above us...just asking if we had seen him lately, if we had heard any screaming, (now that scared me!) and just a couple of questions about that. We had only seen our upstairs neighbor a couple of times. Usually you could heard him yelling in Spanish over the phone on his porch and that was usually when we would see him. I guess he had been reported for "suspicious behavior." My roommates and I all got together and came up with some possibilities of what he could be up to. I won't list them here because I am now embarrassed to say them. Well today after school, walking to the apartment, he was there on the stairs bringing a bunch of boxes downstairs. I couldn't really tell it was him so being the nice person that I am I said, "Hello!" and smiled....but as soon as I saw who it was, that smile ran and hid off of my face. He grunted and stared at me while I quickly and awkwardly ran up the stairs to my apartment and shut the door! Creepy man! I sit down to do some homework when I hear all this noise going on above me. Vacuuming going on, people walking up and down the stairs, it was loud! My roommate looked outside our peep hole to see what was going on. She ran over to me and said, "Heather...I think creepy man is moving!" Oh joy! I sure hope she is right!

à la maison

Well after a couple of days of crap everywhere, I am unpacked and put away...well for the most part. There is still a tiny problem with not having a bed frame or box spring but do not fear because I am soon headed to the wonderful land of Ikea! I never realized how much stuff I had until I had to pack it up, move it, then unpack it all. The house is old, but old in a vintage style. The oven and stove are ancient. I tried to cook dinner tonight and gave up soon after because I didn't want to blow up the house. Maybe next time. The kitchen is very spacious though. A definite upgrade from my previous abode. We actually have a back yard, with a fire pit and hammock! Hurray for a reading spot! We also have a real piano in the living room which is very accommodating as well. Don't get me wrong, I love my electric keyboard but there is a huge difference when you sit down to a real piano.

Sandman showed me this awesome paint commercial. It pretty much is the most colourful thing I have ever seen and it makes me really want to be there, on the swing set swinging, being sheathed with paint that drops from the sky! I can't believe they did all that for a minutes worth of a commercial! Don't fret environmentalists....the paint is environmental friendly :)

I started working full time at my dental office this week...and it's killing me! haha! I'm used to working maybe 3-4 hours a day. Now it's the full 8-9 hours a day. But hey that just means more money which I desperately need to be saving right now. There are still so many things that I need to get; school books, scrubs, storage boxes, food....the list goes on. I hate the effect money has in our lives. I don't want to be controlled by it, but yet it does control so many things in our lives. So many families are torn apart because of money. My goal is to finish school without any debt. Mom is awesome at keeping track of where the money goes in the family and hopefully I will be able to pick up on her skills soon!

Did you say sexy?!?

So it's finally warm enough that I can wear my awesome bright orange shoes! You can't help but be happy when you wear them. Okay so I am on campus, heading back home because I forgot some books, leaving a message on a cute guys phone, when two random boys yelled, "Hey you have sexy shoes!" I pause right in the middle of the message I am leaving, praying he didn't just hear that! I then frantically finished my message and left with a bright red flush
consuming my face! That message will be imprinted in his mind for all eternity and because it's so ridiculous he probably will never delete it...blast!
Then returning to campus, (and I kid you not) I was atrociously attacked by two ducks sitting on a hill. Now I don't know what I did to upset these bizarre creatures but apparently I did something. I hope someone was secretly recording that hysterical moment and then turns it into Funniest Home Videos! It would win first place for sure!
Oh and that cute guy I was leaving a message for heard everything! He called me back and said, "now what was that about sexy shoes?" Ugh...so embarrassing!

Fort of Awesomeness!

Saturday night fort preparation #1: Find a big room with lots of furniture. Here is Jaymo and cute-laugh using their brains to start fabricating our fort. We moved all the couches and found as many sheets as we could in the house. Our plan was invincible...until we stumbled upon a tiny problem. We had plenty of furniture around to help support our fort, but we had nothing in the middle to hold it all up! Gasp! What should we do? Saturday night fort preparation #2: Jaymo, not willing to give up, began to scour the house for tall, sturdy objects. She found a stick which would've worked except we had nothing to hold the stick in place. We were about to give up when Jaymo came running back with a big, fake Christmas tree!! "That's perfect!," we all yelled! Blondes' really are smart eh? So we put the tree right in between the two blow-up mattresses and put some heavy books on the bottom to make sure the tree didn't fall over! It worked perfectly! "It's like sleeping in a mini forest!," I said as we draped the sheets over it. We had to tape some of the sheets to the window which proved to be more difficult then we had thought it would be. Fort preparation #3: I became the master taper and took on the challenge of the taping. Kat became the master duct taper, asking to duct tape anything in her sight :) My taping master skills help up throughout the night. To celebrate our awesome fort, we decided to play a game of "Sorry" in which I was brutally beaten at, and a game of "Old Maid," with cards way to big for even me to hold. You would think, "Old Maid," being a kid game and all, would be smart enough to make cards that little kids would be able to hold, no? Well after our little game playing we went and grabbed some ice cream and then sat in our fort and watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! Perfect movie for the perfect fort!
