Electronic break

It is all about technology these days. Internet where ever you go. People are lost with out their phones. Laptops are a necessity. Well I was able to spend ten days with awesome company, no electronics, and surrounded by some b-e-a-utiful scenery. It was a very, VERY long drive to Washington where we got together for a family reunion of around 130 people. I will just say this, Packard reunions are the best. We were all in cabins, playing games, eating good food, catching up with cousins....it was fabulous. This was also Jake's first time meeting everyone (well not everyone) on the Packard side. Lots of hugs, lots of names. I wouldn't blame him if he doesn't remember anyone!
After that we made our way to the Oregon coast. My favorite. We stopped in Astoria and did some history sightseeing there, then made our way to Cape Meares where we would be staying. And I have to give a big shout out to Phyllis and Ted for letting us stay at their beach house. We had so much fun! Luckily for us, low tide was around 10 am instead of the usual 4 or 5 am so we all got to sleep in and still get to look for starfish in the caves. Tillamook was a once a day outing for us. Fabulous cheese and ice cream....Jake was in heaven.
We also took a little gander at crabbing. We got in our boat and I immediately saw the nasty nets with a big fish head attached to it and wondered if I could do this. I am not a sea food person by any means. The crab had to be a certain size and male for us to keep them. We caught tons of crab but there were only a select few that we thought would make it. More like one. And he was just shy of being able to be eaten. I stood back and watched as the family and Jake devoured crab. Again...Jake was in heaven. Of course we did some shopping, and with another family we rented some beach bikes and cruised around on the beach while the rest of us flew kites. It was such a fun trip and I can't wait to go back again someday!
Beautiful Oregon coast
Pictures and video soon to come.

More trips please!

I know we just got back from a trip but I am dying to leave again. I always like a good trip. Thank goodness I don't have to wait too long for our next one. We are headed to Washington for a family reunion, then stopping at Oregon on the way home. Jake has never been to either Washington or Oregon. However, I am most excited to show him Oregon.

The greenness. The trees, oh the trees! The beach house. The farm. The waterfalls. The ocean. Cheese factory (yum).

I love it!

A little bit of happiness

A little sunshine, beach, Disneyland, no long lines, laughter, and loved ones....doesn't get much better than that!

Winding down...but picking back up

Things are starting to wind down a little bit now that Jake has passed his licensing exam (1 out of 4). Wahoo! We are so happy that is done. Now we can throw away recycle his huge stack of papers he had to study. Finals are this week and next, then as soon as he is done we are taking off to Disneyland to forget all our worries! We are such Disneyland junkies. I can't wait! After that we are getting away to St. George to see the Little Mermaid on Broadway for our first anniversary! Can you believe it? It's crazy that it's almost been a year. But then again it's not. We know each other so well that sometimes it seems like we have been married a lot longer. Then after that we are taking off again to a family reunion in Washing state, followed by a couple of days at the beach house in Oregon. I am extremely excited about Oregon. I have a lot of fond memories there. This summer can't get here soon enough!

Wyoming Jaunt

You know, I was slightly disappointed when my parents informed me that our Crosland family reunion trip to Oregon couldn't work and that instead.....we were going to Wyoming. These are the things which ran through my head at this moment.

  • Why are we going to Wyoming?
  • Do we even have relatives there?
  • What is in Wyoming!
  • Stupid gas prices!
  • Where are we going to stay...out in the middle of nowhere!

Well we all got up early Saturday morning to start our journey to Wyoming. Mom had supplied us with many movies so I wasn't worried about being bored on the trip up. Half way there we stopped in Evanston for a little purchasing of "not illegal" fireworks! As we walked in, I passed a man with two grocery carts chuck full of these "not illegal" fireworks with a huge grin on his face, telling me that this is probably a little overboard and that I should not follow his example....hmm....YA THINK! Well when I walked into the store, that's when all logic flew out my ear. It's like being a kid in a candy store but with rows and rows and huge storage areas full of fireworks! I think the most expensive one I saw was around $400.00! But I wanted to buy them all! I am such a pyro and this wold probably satisfy my need to light things on fire. My sis and I got out cameras and started taking pictures because we have never seen this many fireworks in our lifetime! People probably thought we were retarded but that's okay. We later got to the cabin which was actually really really nice! And Wyoming is actually a very pretty place! The landscape was beautiful. I spent most of my time driving our four wheelers around the rugged terrain, getting dust in my face, eyes, teeth and swallowed a bug at least twice. It was grand fun! And the stars! Oh the stars! I sat outside and just looked up to the sky, feeling so insignificant with all the stars surrounding me. Basically I told my parents we need to get a cabin up in Wyoming so we can come more often! Their reply was...."Okay make sure you marry someone with a cabin!" Of course they were kidding but I was like...hmm okay! I take that as a no! haha well the place was awesome and the Crosland family reunion was a smash! Pictures still to come.
