Yesterday we had the Crosland family over for our monthly FHE. It's always good to see all the cousins and catch up with everyone. After we had dinner and what not, we all gathered around and my dad and his brother gave my grandpa and grandma a blessing. Our family is going to have some rough times a head of us and watching these brothers give their parents a special blessing, made me realize how blessed I am to have worthy priesthood holders in my life. Sometimes I forget how much the priesthood can do and what the priesthood means to me. It's so comforting to know that I can always go to my dad in any time of need and have him give me a blessing. Not only being able to go to my dad, uncle, or grandfather for a blessing, but even friends or ward members.
I'm grateful to you. For being there for me.

Too much
First
Well this weekend has been quite something. My first day of school was Wednesday, and I started out the day with my 7:oo am history class. You all probably think I am crazy, but actually it hasn't been quite that bad. I really enjoy learning about history and my teacher is pretty funny. I guess he does war reenactment for a living and he likes to bring in guns for us to look at which I think is pretty cool. Today he brought in a Colt revolver...(?) I'm not exactly sure.
Oh back to my first day of school, I ended the day with my very first concert...EVER! I know how embarrassing huh? I'm 20 and I am just getting around to a concert. I can now check that one off my bucket list! I have gone to my fair share of orchestra, choir, and John Schmidt concerts, but those don't really count. We went to go see Nickleback, which to be quite honest, I'm not a huge avid fan. I knew a couple of his songs so that was fun because I could actually sing along. They put on a great show! Fireworks included. I will say I have never ever seen so much beer, or heard the "f" word so much in my entire life! I was shocked! I guess I kinda expected it at a concert, but man! It was like every other word. There was a really REALLY annoying girl that was sitting behind me that had a scream like no other. It reminded me of when my cousin and I would have a contest every 4th of July to see who could lose their voices during a screamer firework. I don't remember who won but that's what it sounded like.
Times 3.
Pictures will be posted later. I will admit....you could totally tell that this was my first concert. I tried the head bang out.....no bueno.

Mistake
You know when you say something that you totally didn't mean, just said it without thinking, and wished you could take it back but it's already done it's damage?
Me too.
Me too.

Beach Boys
I had to drive up to Salt Lake today and I most definitely picked the worst time to drive up there. Traffic was awful. There were two car accidents, and one wasn't even on my side of the road! I hate when morbid curiosity takes over people. This is when I usually start to lose my patience with people driving. I have found over my driving career, that when I am in horrible traffic and getting really annoyed, I put on The Beach Boys. For some reason, their happy, go with the flow music calms me down and I actually have a decent ride home. Beach Boys bring back so many childhood memories. When I was little we would always turn on Beach Boys or Queen when we were cleaning up the house. My dad would crank up the music so loud! We all thought it was the best and would dance around the living room. It also reminds me of my grandparents house in California. Oh how I miss that house. We would visit almost every summer and would head to the beach for six hours, then come back, shower off, and swim in the pool for another six hours. We pretty much lived in the water. I even remember doing a dance in second grade to Surfin' USA. We all had our cardboard surfboards that we decorated and I had these awesome glasses.
Thank you Beach Boys.
Thank you Beach Boys.

Last Hurrah
But she survived and because we started with that one, she felt like she could do everything else. I think we went on almost every single ride. Although we didn't make it to the Samari, which was totally okay by me. Went on that once and just about puked.Saturday, Jamie and I did some "awkward shopping" for our friend who was just getting married. Her wedding reception was in Randolph....yeah had no idea where that was. Took us about two hours to get there! We even had to go through Wyoming! The reception was beautiful. Jamie and I stood
drive, and longest drive ever. The highway that we were on was not lit at all. Pitch black. Jamie and I had never been so happy to see a semi! We would speed up and catch up to the semi and then just chill behind and let them light the way. Eventually one would leave for a pit stop and we would be on our own. We made it home safely, crashed, and went to bed. It was a great weekend. Now I have to think of all the things I need to get done before school starts. I was excited for school to start, but now that it's just around the corner, I'm have second thoughts. We will see how this first week goes!

Flip Flops
So I came across this article about flip flops this morning and it kinda shocked me.
Read it for yourself. It will make you think twice about constantly wearing those beauties.

Adulthood
I finally have my very own car and feel like I can be classified as a bonafide adult now. Unfortunately the DMV is closed...which means I have to WAIT until Monday before I can really drive it. So Mater and I get a couple of days left. I'm not gonna lie, I am gonna miss the little truck. We have been through a lot together, but I'm so excited to not get leg cramps while sitting in traffic and not being worried about people behind me on a steep hill. Stick is awesome and I am so glad I learned it. I am surprised with how many people don't know how to drive a stick. However, not having a stick is awesome too!
Started teaching my lil bro some stick yesterday....lets just say I forgot how nerve racking and hard it is to learn stick for the first time. At least it was for me.
Now that I think about it, I cried the first time I learned stick.

New Calling
So....I get a call today asking if I can meet with the Bishop.
Dun dun dun!
Sadly I knew this wouldn't be a "get to know you" meeting. I knew I was getting a calling. Which this time I was actually okay with because I knew the Relief Society presidency was already filled, and the ward already had a choir director. Don't get me wrong, I am happy do to whatever the Lord feels I need to do. It would just be nice to have a change. That's all I have been doing for a while. Well during sacrament meeting, when I thought I was safe, the bishop releases half of the relief society presidency, AND the choir director! Now I'm in trouble.
I am really, REALLY hoping it's not choir director. So we finally get to the chase.
The calling that I received was neither! I was shocked. I have been called as a ward missionary.
Yeah didn't see that one coming. At all. He talked about how there were a couple of non members who had come that I would be working with as well as a couple of members that have been non active for 3-4 years that just decided to come to our ward today. So needless to say I am very, very much intimidated by this calling. I don't feel like I know enough to teach these people. There are still many things I am finding out on my own! But I know that this is what Heavenly Father wants me to do. Haha I asked for a change and he sure gave me that!
Man. I have a lot of work to do.

Weekend with friends
What am I doing up so late?
Well this weekend was a fun one. A friend and I drove up to Park City to do a little shopping as well as test out the Alpine Slide. Seriously I have lived in Utah my whole ENTIRE life and had just recently heard about the Alpine Slide.
Soooo much fun!
But man was it cold! I forgot to bring a jacket with me, (stupid I know) so I had to buy one, which was okay because I will be needing one later when Fall comes! Which I can't wait for! After Park City I hurried home to change to make it to one of my friend's wedding receptions. Those are always so weird to go to when they are all your friends that are getting married. But it is fun to see people you haven't seen in a while. I stayed longer than I thought and I remembered I promised a very dear friend of mine that I would take him to a movie since this would be the last time we could hang out before he moves. We were going to see Julie and Julia at 10:05pm. Highly recommend the movie. Well I rushed home quickly, changed, and headed out the door. Halfway there I noticed that I didn't bring my wallet. STUPID! So I had to hurry and rush back and grab it. Here all my grandparents are hearing at this point is the door open and shut very frantically. No worries. I made it just in time. I really did like the movie. It made we want to take cooking lessons really bad. We will see what I can find. Oh how I would love to go to Europe just to taste the food. My sister really liked the food there when she went, but she did say that the Snickers were better here in America. The only disclaimer about the movie. They randomly through in the "f" bomb which makes me so frustrated! Really? Did you really need to just through that in there? All in all, good weekend.

Farewell
Sadly, this summer is coming to an end very quickly. It's been an odd summer with weird weather, but it's also been a great one. I'm ready for some change though. This next semester comes to me with mixed feelings. I'm really excited for the semester to start because I like being in a routine, sometimes I actually like school, getting to meet more people is always great, and this will probably be the easiest semester I have ever had, which I definitely need. I'm not looking forward to this semester because I like going to seven peaks every day. I like being able to sleep in and not have to worry about anything. I enjoy being able to hang out with my friends. I usually become a hermit during the school semester so don't expect to see much of me. I am also not looking forward to my 7 am class. I am sooo not a morning person.
It's weird to think this is my third year of college. Wow!

Sundays
I remember when I was little, not being really thrilled when Sunday came around. It was so boring and you couldn't do anything! You couldn't play with your friends, or watch your favorite movie.
Now that I am older, my feelings of Sunday have changed. It's a day of rest. Sometimes literally. Sleep is very important to me. It's also a day of rest from everyday living. Being caught up in everything that is going on the world. It's a change to spiritually re boost yourself. Today I went up to Music and the Spoken Word with a friend. I always love going to those and getting to see my mom. Usually they have a guess singer that comes along and performs. Today they had a huge choir from Great Britain that were fantastic! It made me miss being in a choir so bad! After that we went and just walked around Temple Square. I love Temple Square. Everything about it is just so peaceful and I love seeing the sister missionaries hard at work.
