Zorbing

Also called globe-riding.

Wikipedia defines Zorbing as a recreational practice of humans rolling downhill in a sphere that is generally made of transparent plastic. I can't figure out how to put on the video that I found because it's in a different format yada yada but here is the link. Check it. I'm so doing it. The guys in the video have awesome english accents and the first thirty minutes are about a bunch of people running down a hill after cheese....? Pay attention to the girl in the purple sweater!

Confession #2

I love soft mints. Way. Too. Much!
A bunch of dentists that we refer patients to for stuff brought all the girls lunch and had these 4th of July baskets with all sorts of treats. Including a couple bags of soft mints. Apparently I was drooling or making a funny face or something because the girls noticed and asked sarcastically if I would like some. I pretty much ate 1/2 of the bag by myself. Gross.

But I love them.

Thanks

This week has been a very interesting and just a busy but fun week. I guess I am just grateful for the many wonderful friends and family that I have. I am very blessed to have them in my life.

Thanks GW for taking the week off so I can have a week off.
Thanks to my puzzle buddy for helping me find that stupid missing piece.
Thanks mon ami for always making me laugh and putting up with my weirdness.
Thanks Mom for checking up on me while you are away.
Thanks Meg for always letting me wear something of yours when I come home and forget to bring stuff.
Thanks Grandma for making me breakfast in the morning.
Thanks Michael Jackson for making high school dances bearable. (No he is not a friend or a relative but I figure he needed to be thanked for his awesome music and choreography)
Thanks Older and Wiser for raising the bar for the Crosland girls and for being a great example to me. We still need to finish X-Men by the way....
Thanks Dad for making the best dutch oven dinners EVER and for reminding me constantly that driving DOWN to Pleasant Grove is not correct, but that driving UP to Pleasant Grove is.

Thanks!

Confession #1

So those that know me well, know that I don't like commercials very much. However, if a Target commercial happens to be playing you better not skip it when I am around.

I love watching Target commercials. They are so creative with all their advertisements and always playing catchy music! They are the best.

Shooting

Tuesday, my friends dad took us shooting on the other side of Utah Lake.

So. Much. FUN!
We went shooting with each other about two years ago and had a lot of fun, so it was good to finally get together again and give it another go. For being girls with not a lot of gun experience, I'd say we were pretty good and almost never missed our targets! My favorite part was just grabbing a bunch of junk that was lying around, a car trunk, big pieces of wood, and a bunch of other random stuff, putting that together and blowing it up with tannerite. I think last time we went shooting, we found this old washer that had been shot to death with bullets, and we thought it would be fun to blow it up. Well we put some tannerite beneath it, shot it, and watched it explode and fly into the air! It was awesome. Who knew shooting pieces of junk could be so much fun!

Bitten

Yesterday around 7:30 ish I went outside to help my grandma prune some of her trees. I will post some pictures of their back yard later because it is gorgeous!! I had long pants on, and a very very long shirt because I was determined not to get bitten this time. Grandma has this crazy prickly tree behind the waterfall. Can't tell you how many times I got poked by that stupid tree! After that was finished I went inside, got ready for bed, and fell asleep instantly.

Woke up this morning and found a big mosquito bite near the corner of my eye.

What the heck!

Of all places to get a mosquito bite. How did I not feel that? Next time I go outside I will have to wear a bio-hazard suit or something because this is ridiculous.

Alive

No worries, I am alive. My next door neighbor decided after a year of my cousins using their internet, that they would completely cut me off. I haven't had internet for a whole week!!! I know it's sad I can't live without the internet. I figured since most of my classes this Fall will be online, I better find something and hook it up ASAP. I ran and got a router and thought it would be pretty easy to hook up....NOT! Thank heavens my Disneyland/gamer buddies came to my rescue. I owe them big time! Big enough that I am going to save them a parking spot at my place for the Stadium of Fire! Parking for this even is RIDICULOUS. That is a huge bonus for where my grandparents are located. Well while I was internet-less I jotted down all the funny stories that happened to me so I would remember when I could blog again. Of course....I can't find it now. So, until I find it you just get to hear what happened this last weekend...starting with Thursday, which isn't the weekend but close. A group of friends and I went to the Oquirrh (not Oaker...haha) Mountain Temple open house. The area the temple was in is beautiful! I want to live there so bad! Of course the temple was beautiful as well. I loved being able to walk through everything and the spirit that was there! You can't beat it.
Also Thursday my mom left for her tour with the MOTAB. So far she is having a wonderful time and just left Navoo yesterday and was headed to Iowa? I think. We miss her. Especially my dad but he does great and has kept the household down pretty well. Fathers' day was definitely different without mom there. Us kids woke up early to make dad breakfast and instead of getting him gifts from the kids, we decided to give him memories...in the making I guess you could say. My gift was a bike ride through Provo Canyon and a picnic lunch with me. I chose this because my dad loves to ride his bike. It's something he really enjoys. Our family has a tandem, two seater bike for those who don't know, so we might take that! Who knows. Church was great, my friend had just gotten home from his mission so it was his homecoming, and his family had asked me, well really asked my mom, then my mom forgot to tell me and so on. Meg and I did end up singing a very pretty song called O Touch Mine Eyes, and it went pretty well! After that we ran up to my grandparents house to have dinner with the cousins. My aunt has the cutest children! Shown here.
I asked little Janey Jane to give me a smile and this is what she came up with! And she got into a lovely shade of lipstick where all the dress ups are. Maggers has the biggest blue eyes I have ever seen and I just want to squeeze her she is so cute! I love being with my family.
Well hopefully I will find my book soon so I can blog my funny stories. I remember them being funny so hopefully I can find them soon before it's already been too long.

Stop

So I'm thinking the rain has got to stop. At least for a couple of days so I can go swimming!

Granted, I'm not ready for 90+ degree weather but a little sunshine would be nice.

Please?

Eyebrows

Over the past couple of weeks I have gotten compliments on my eyebrows.
Me? I just think that's a weird compliment. It happened one time while I was doing baptisms. After I was done with all of my names, the cute old man told me that I had nice eyebrows.

"Thank you? Yours are nice and caterpillar like?"

Last time happened just last week when I was working on a patient. I was in the middle of cleaning their teeth when they said, "this might be weird of me to say...but you have lovely eyebrows."

Again with the awkward compliment.

Goals

It's always good to write goals down if you really plan on doing them. Here are a few of mine that I want to do between the end of this month and through July. I guess they are more things I just want to do.
  • Run the Freedom run
  • Make a meal without burning something!
  • Hike Angels Landing
  • Lake Powell trip (never been before)
  • Get a stellar tan from all the running I will be doing
  • DON'T CUT MY HAIR (have been tempted too many times)
  • Raft down Provo river
  • Ride up to Bridal Veil Falls again but go all the way to Vivian Park
  • Go to the Strawberry Days Rodeo. I have lived in PG for fourteen years now and have only been once. That's just a little ridiculous.
I am determined to check all of these off. That should be a goal in itself!

Egg Whites

This morning we celebrated my moms birthday early with a big breakfast with the family and all of her close friends. Her birthday isn't for another week but she will be gone on tour with the choir, so we thought we get it in while we could. The breakfast consisted of my dads awesome dutch oven "Mountain Man" breakfast, pumpkin waffles with homemade syrup, sausage, watermelon, cantaloupe, and pineapple. It was a fiesta! Only Crosland breakfast style. While we were getting the food all ready, Mom and Dad needed me to run and grab another thing of eggs and milk. I grabbed Natalia and ran to the grocery store. Well we came back and on the kitchen counter was a bowl that looked like it was full of cool whip. It looked a little funny to me so I didn't dip my finger in it. But Natalia however went right ahead on dipped her finger into the bowl, and then into her mouth, followed by a disgusted look on her face.

"MOM what is this?!"
"Did you eat that?"
"Yeah what is it?"
"Haha those are egg whites that I beat up"

That's when I started laughing! I knew there was something fishy about it.
Speaking of cool whip, watch this. It makes me laugh every time.

Morning

I woke up this morning humming Mr. Rogers' "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood" song.

Odd.

I got out of bed to make breakfast, burned my pancake, and decided that a bowl of fresh strawberries and cantaloupe sounded much better.

I still have that song stuck in my head! I'm thinking I should go back to bed.

Bike ride numba duex

Penny and I have been quite the avid bike riders. I hope to go on many more. This time we met at Provo canyon, got on out bikes, and headed down the trail to Bridal Veil Falls. It rained a little bit before we got together so the ride was a little humid; BUT it was cool humid! The weather was perfect and the canyon smelt amazing. Very fresh and somewhere along the trail we passed some type of lilac bush or something because it smelled very very good! This trail is very deceiving though. It looks flat. It's not. Biking up to the falls was hard! I was so confused on why I had to stand up a couple of times and do some hard pedaling when we were on a flat trail. We finally made it up to the falls, stopped and took a couple of pictures as it started to rain, and found a place to eat our snacks.
The ride down was a little chilly because we were flying downhill. I think I reached 20 mph going down one hill. At least that's what it said on my little device on my bike. We both had to pull out our sweaters. We passed these two guys on a skateboard and I only bring this up because we passed them about three times! Haha the first time I had to stop and take a picture, so while taking that they passed us. Penny and I headed out and passed them again. Then we went to check out this park with these really nice pavilions. As we headed up to the pavilions I saw the two guys pass us again.
"Dang...we are going to pass them again!"
I felt really stupid as I passed them again and waved with an awkward smile.
As we reached near the end, we started to slow down just a tad and take our sweet time because we thought no one was around. Well Penny and I start riding across the bridge when we hear this "bbbrrring bbriiinngg!" behind us.
This old man on a bike came out of no where and apparently was impatient with us. The sound of his little bike bell sounded annoyed. We quickly moved out of his way and let him pass.
"We just got belled at."
"haha yes we did, by an old man."

Next time I want to bike to Vivian Park!

Ward

So....I tried out the BYU ward this last Sunday.

They were all very nice and more than willing to help me figure out where to go.
But....I felt really really bad for this one kid. He was very nice and very helpful and from Madagascar. Let me say that again....he was from Madagascar. I had the hardest time understanding what he was trying to say and I felt bad I couldn't figure it out!

"ar u goin to word poir?"
(I thought he said ward choir...) "No I am actually heading home for family stuff, but I love to sing so I will come next time!"
"No....word poir!"
"Ward choir?"
"Word poir!" (then puts his hands together to resemble praying.)

Light bulb turns on....

"Oooohh! Ward prayer!"

He is probably thinking "stupid white girl..."

I'll work on it. I promise.

X marks the spot

So at the start of the summer I semi bragged that I hadn't been bitten by a mosquito in a very very long time. Probably three years at least. I guess my blood just isn't very sweet anymore?
Well I was outside in my grandparents backyard for maybe two minutes when I felt something on my elbow. I was too slow. It had already partaken of my blood stupid insect. So now I have a mosquito bite on my blasted elbow which is a retarded place to have one anyway. Later that day I started itching my knee. Crap! One there too! Oh and don't worry, I now have one on each ankle! Worst of all places to have one.

So now I have a constant X on my elbow, knee and both ankles. I need to invest in some mosquito repellent asap!

"We have nothing else for these kids to do" service project

My friend Penny and I woke up this morning to participate in some service work that was being done around Provo. Last time she planted around 2,000 flowers in front of the old Academy in Provo and had a really fun time. This time...wasn't.

We drove to Pioneer Park where we were supposed to meet everyone and drove around for a couple of minutes before we finally found the group. I was thinking we were going to do some planting and what not at the Pioneer Park, but we both came to realize that was not so when we saw the Farmers Market was taking place there. We signed our names, each got a shovel, and Penny got a pair of gloves. I was above gloves. They took us down the street to this abandoned parking lot; at least it looked abandoned. Very abandoned. Our service project was to pull the weeds around the parking lot. Seriously?! Isn't there some other poor looking park or cool building that needs our help? A few of us were thinking that maybe some weed killer would be more efficient in this scenario, but we went a head, pulling weeds out of rocks and pavement.

But even though this pretty much was a pointless service project, it still felt good to do some service. Hopefully next time they find some that actually needs to be done.

Adjusted

I feel I have finally adjusted to this new change. Embraced it is more like it. I love it here! Love my job. Love being close to so many friends and family. Love meeting new people. It's fantastic. I have yet to find THE ward for me but I will give it another go this coming Sunday.
I made dinner for gram and gramps yesterday and it turned out very nice! That's one thing that has been hard for me is that I really do like to cook....but not for just one person....especially myself. So I'm thinking gram and gramps will be getting quite a bit of cooking from me. I have a couple of recipes that I am dying to try. I am so excited for the weekend! So many fun things planned!

Job

Well today was my first day with the new job. I was talking with my grandparents about it the night before, telling them that for some reason I was getting a little nervous. I shouldn't be nervous because I know my stuff. But I was a little nervous until I actually got there and then wondered why I was even nervous in the first place. The day went great! We did like four crowns and three root canals so I got some good practice with knowing how the dentist likes to do those. The girls there are all awesome. Don't think there will be any drama in this office...or at least I hope. I have been lucky because every office that I have worked in has not had any drama between the girls. It's great. The dentist is awesome. Very layed back and easy to work with. Perfect first day!

I'm still trying to figure out the light switches at the my grandparents house. It's ridiculous. I will get it eventually though.
