Liberating

This would've been me if I could actually click my heels! Finals are done!!!!!! It feels so liberating to say that at this moment! My immune system did crash after I tried so hard to take care of it. All day at work, my nose kept dripping in my mask.

Yuck.

So tempted to shove a cotton roll up there so it would just stop! Well my roommates and I are going to celebrate the end with a good viewing of him in Wolverine at midnight! Stupid idea? I think not! I can stay awake for him. I just need to sleep a good 5 hours before we actually leave to watch it!

I'm beat.

Fact

It has come to my attention that my roommate and I watch this video at least a couple of times a week.

Love. It.

One more final to go. Yahoo!!!

Finals

I swear whenever finals come around I have the weirdest dreams. I think my brain is on the fritz.

1 down....2 more to go.

Done...done and DONE!

Yes!! I have finally finished this horrible week full of all my plethora of tests! It feels great!
I went to the library to study at 9:30, took a test at 11:15, then another at 11:45, then studied for my bio med test till I couldn't study anymore which was around 2:45. When I went to go take my bio med test, the lady that was there in charge of checking you in and what not, very nicely told me that she wouldn't put me next to the girl with the clicky nails. Ha ha uh thanks! So I get onto my computer and begin my test when I hear this crazy loud, annoying clicking noise! This girl was typing like crazy with huge fake nails on. Blast! Kill me now! Yes I was impressed at how fast the girl could type but seriously?!? Usually I can take those tests in 15 minutes....ish... but this time it took me twice as long! All I could hear was the stupid noise her nails made as they struck the keyboard. But I did well with all three tests! Heavenly!

Am I gonna start studying for finals? Nope. I'm going to be lazy and watch movies and read books! Hurray for being lazy!

Weekend

I love going home for the weekend! But not this week.

My dearest cousin got married yesterday so I was able to go to that and it was splendid. She looked gorgeous. Other than that I've been studying. I loath studying. Especially for crazy medical classes. I was able to spend a little time with my mom running errands and helping her get some things done which isn't the funnest thing to do, but that doesn't matter because I just like spending time with my mom. Getting caught up on life, boys and everything in between. It's great! She even bought me a fantastic water bottle (if you know me, I love to buy cool looking water bottles) so I wouldn't steal hers anymore!

I also got him put on my laptop. Love his music.

Now it's back to studying. Did I mention I hate studying? Cause I do.

New living quarters

It's that time. Time when the library becomes my not-so-permanent residence.

Today was a long day! School, work, took a Patho test, then did a four hour study session at the library.

At least I got to see a beautiful sunset.

  • Bio Med test tomorrow
  • Patho test Wednesday
  • Bio Med test Thursday....or Saturday
Finals are starting to look like a breeze compared to this week!

Speaker

It's talks like his that make me realize that I can be so much better. You know I thought I was doing pretty good until he gave his talk. We were privileged to have Neil L. Anderson come and speak to us at our stake conference up here in Ogden. One of the boys came and sat down next to us with a big grin on his face as he told us that he just shook Elder Neil L. Anderson's hand! Haha! But really to have him there in person was so cool! You could just feel the power of this newly called apostle as he spoke to us. Here are some things I got from the meeting. I was trying to write them down as fast as I could so hopefully I will be able to read them.
  • Brent C. Nelson talked about the theme of Conference which was "If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear." He talked about a boy who was a great example to everyone. While in sports, he made sure that he always put the Lord first and knew that if he put his faith in the Lord, they could whip anyone. (age 15) He liked everyone and everyone liked him. He was used as an example for other missionaries while he served. He was dedicated to his church, his family, friends, and work. On his way to a work meeting on a plane, sometime went wrong and the plane crashed killing everyone. Brent C. Nelson then asked us this question. "Are you prepared?" Then I asked myself, am I striving to be a good example to others? Am I striving to be the best that I can be?
  • Brother Simpson - Ogden Temple president talked about the scripture Mosiah 2:5 and how we all need to face the temple. We need our families to face the temple. He told of story of a primary teacher that took her kids to the temple and asked each of them to go up one at a time, to touch the temple. After each one had touched the temple she said to them, "Now you've touched the temple. When you grow up, let the temple touch you." I thought that was so cool. It made me aware of how grateful I am for a temple that is not even ten minutes from where I live and that I can go there and partake of the blessings it gives each and every one of us as we do temple work.
  • Didn't catch her name but she is in the Presidency of the stake Relief Society. She also talked about being prepared and compared it to Noah and the ark and gave us seven things to help us. 1:Don't miss the boat - take advantage of what we have (prophets, temples, scriptures) 2: We are all in the same boat - We need to help each other. 3: Plan ahead - continue your education. Be prepared. 4: Don't listen to critics - Man's opinion doesn't matter. 5: Travel in pairs - Marriage. Lean on each other, move forward together in faith, and for those that haven't found the one, be that person you are looking for. 6: The ark was built by amateurs. Titanic was built by professionals. You know what happened to both - Joseph Smith was a little boy when he prayed to our Heavenly Father. In some way we are all amateurs in our callings, but as long as we do them faithfully we will be blessed. 7: No matter the storm, when with Heavenly Father, there is always a rainbow at the end - It will all work out. Do not fear.
  • Neil L. Anderson started talking about how we need to be clay in Heavenly Father's hands. We need to learn to grow into the mantle that we have been given. Be mold able. Be Changeable. Then he talked about youth. "Joseph Smith was young, the Savior was young. Don't let your youth be an excuse. We have to account for what we are in our lives." Also talked about how we need to keep Christ as our center. He quoted Thomas S. Monson from this last general conference, "Some would like to keep one foot in Babylon, and one foot in Zion. This is not possible." Mentioned D&C 45:57 (speaking as for us in our days) Then he went on to talk about how the power of the Savior is real. Accept it. We must remember Him always that His spirit may abide with us always (sacrament prayer) This next part is my favorite part of his whole talk. He talked about how when he was a little boy he used to catch butterflies. He would gently catch them in his hand, then put it into a bottle expecting the butterfly to still fly around, but instead it couldn't fly and fell to the bottom of the jar. He then said the spirit of the Lord is like unto a butterflies wing. It is delicate and refined. When we do something to harm it, it does not return immediately. We can't go to a bad movie one night, then expect the spirit to be there the next day to help us.
What a blessing it was to hear from this newly called apostle. His love for our Saviour is great. His love for each of us is great. I'm so grateful to have a living prophet and apostles on the earth today to help and guide us through hard times. I am so grateful to have a loving Heavenly Father and a loving brother, Jesus Christ. We are never alone.

What an awesome way to start the week. This is what I needed.

Activities

Saturday, yesterday, a group of friends and I went here and participated in this. It was awesome! The Thai food was really good....except the weird snow cone flavors. My roommate and I went up to get one and we asked what flavors they had. He said, "Green, yellow, red, and white." .....Okay then...I will have a yellow mixed with red and hope it tastes good. The red part tasted like barbie bubble gum tooth paste. I don't know what the yellow tasted like but it was a little bit better! We also got to watch some Thai boxing as well as a Thai beauty contest. Their outfits were so colorful as well as the trinkets they wore in their hair! It was cool to be a part of their culture for a day. One thing I learned while I was there is that their Kings favorite color is Yellow...and that is why so many things are decorated in yellow in their culture right now.
After that, we headed back to the apartment to play a little game of Crockett. I forgot how much I liked that game! I remember playing it all the time with cousins in the back of my grandparents yard! My roommate and I were really behind, to only come forward and almost win the game. At least I was "poison" first! After that we all went inside and played a round of UNO followed by an intense game of Phase 10. Didn't win any of those either.
I needed that so bad. Just a day full of fun with friends and not studying. It felt amazing!

Dancing what?

I just signed up for a dance class. To be more precise, a swing dance class. This is so not like me...at all.

I can't dance. Period.

But I'm so excited! And hopefully by the end I will be able to dance!

For Fall semester I am signed up for seven classes which accumulates up to twelve credits.
Right now I am taking four classes which accumulates to twelve credits. Lame.

Brain Overload

My brain hurts. I'm so sick of studying ARDS, COPD, staphyloccus auresu, laryngotrachaeobronchitis, (say that one five times fast...) glomerulonephritis, and much more. I'm so glad I don't have any of those but man! This patho test I have to take Saturday. Then next week is when it gets hairy! I don't even want to talk about it.

Good news! After I take my patho test, a bunch of us are going to the Water Festival! Obviously we aren't going to Asia to take part in this event, but I am so excited! Drenching people in water and all you can eat Thai food....it's going to be awesome!

Better late than never

So I finally got the Easter weekend pictures from my dad. Yes I know it's past Easter. Enjoy!

Found you!

Getting the eggs I coudn't reach...

Someone is really excited to dye eggs!

We take a quick picture and then 3,2,1...we scatter and try to get the most candy possible

Whiteout

Forget about slushing. It's snowing and the flakes are huge! I saw little kids in their snow gear playing outside and it made me want to cry.

Come on Spring! You can make it. Please?

Slushing

...It's still raining. Except this time it's more like slushing. It's trying to snow but it's not quite making it which is totally fine by me. Yes I am wearing my awesome rain boots. It's been raining so hard that the duck pond thing in front of Weber State is over flooded! The water is up to the bridges that go across! Haha crazy rain! But again I can't tell you how much I love it! I feel like I am in a little slice of Ireland with everything being so green!

So after making my way from the bottom of campus to the very top of campus for my lab, I get there to find there is no lab. Blast! I hate when they do this and don't tell me! Now I don't have class till 11:30. I could've slept in....not that that would've been very long with the roommies heart attacking alarm clock going off every five minutes. What to do, what to do....

Wetness

Today was a glorious day of rain, rain, and more rain! Everything is green and it smells amazing. The rain also brought back favorite memories of family visitings to Oregon which I treasure dearly. I could definitely live there. As I walked around campus today I saw the variety of colored umbrellas and rain boots....sadly I was not wearing mine. Wish I was because there were a lot of puddles that were just screaming my name. Now the only thing I don't like about the rain is the accumulation of nasty, slimy worms. They are EVERYWHERE! I tried very hard not to step on them but there were just too many of them; all different sizes. It was gross. As I was making my way to class through the sea of worms, a thought came into my head. I was thinking how grateful I was to be an evolved homo sapien and not a worm. Odd thought I know but seriously, how boring would your life be if you were a worm. To live underground most of the time until the ground becomes too soaked with water that it pushes you up and you slither your way around just to have people step on you. Do they eat? Can they smell? Do they have a brain...or at least a control center? Can they even think? Well it doesn't matter because I am not a worm. Thank heavens for that.

No Go

My plasma has been rejected. Stupid bone marrow transplant. I love it and dislike it at the same time! I more so love it because with out it I wouldn't be here but what a waste of perfectly good veins! Oh well life moves on eh? I have another Bio Med test that I need to be studying for as well as finishing up my art class. Finals are coming in 2 weeks so my immune system has to hold till then; it can crash and burn after finals are over. Thank heavens I only have 2 finals this semester....but they are both comprehensive. Comprehensive = sucky final! Good thing they are both medical so I can study for both at the same time. I saw an old lady driving today with her dog sitting on her lap. The dog was twice as big as her and I pondered at how she could possible see out the window! Pretty sure that should be illegal.

Today

Today is the day that a favorite book of mine was published in 1925.

  • "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Just thought I'd let you all know! Well I am off to depart with some of my plasma. Stay tuned....details will come later this afternoon.

Emerging

As I walk around campus, my eyes behold all the little things that are emerging as spring is struggling to get here. The trees are budding and some even have blossoms that are blooming. Cute little flowers are popping out of the ground and the grass looks oh so green! I love it. Also emerging is the number of couples I see walking around campus. It's cute when you are with someone too, but right now it's just vexatious. They are EVERYWHERE! Not that I'm not happy where I am in my life right now, but it seems that everywhere I go, a couple pops out of nowhere, holding hands. Winter....not a couple in sight! Spring really is the time for things to happen and to emerge I guess.
Today at work a patient came in that had just given plasma. The dentist and one of the other assistants were talking to him about it when I came into the room to hear him say, "It hurts and you can still see the hole in my arm where they drew the blood!" I guess he and the dentist noticed the look on my face after he said that because the dentist turned to him and said, "she is giving plasma tomorrow.....and it's her first time!" The patient turns to me with a smile on his face and wishes me luck. Uh....okay?!? I'm not afraid of needles and any of that stuff, but this made me a little nervous. I have been told I have awesome veins from my nurse buddies so hopefully they will just have to poke me once. I will give you details about it tomorrow...if I am still alive.

My roommate and I decided to make this awesome video for our other roommates birthday!

Enjoy.
