Mixed Signals

Have you ever been in a situation where you meet a guy, decide he's a nice guy but don't really want to pursue anything, but you are nice to him, and he takes that and goes gung-ho with it? You show any signs of being nice to a boy and they think you are totally into them! Why is that? Don't get me wrong it happens with girls too. For example a guy holds a girls hand during a movie and here the girl is thinking "oh my gosh! This means our relationship is moving to the next level." and the boy is maybe thinking if anything at all, "hmm her hands are soft; this movie is freaking awesome!" Why can't there be a global signal that everyone knows about? Why can't there be the three second stare rule like in the movie "He's Just Not That Into You." It makes for a very awkward situation.

Fooled

So I have never have had a big filling in my life. Most of them have been tiny occlusal fillings on my back molars. Well there was one tooth that looked it could use a sealant. I wanted to be extra safe so I told the dentist to do a little bit more than a sealant and to just do a small filling so there won't be a big chance of it getting a big cavity. So I set up my room for a filling, put in my new favorite movie and sat in the chair. I didn't think it was going to be a big deal so I didn't get a shot. Well the dentist starts drilling and I am doing great. Can't feel a thing. A couple of minutes later he stops and asks if I can feel anything. I tell him no and he looks kinda shocked. He keeps "drilling" (that is in quotations for a reason...) and then stops again to ask me if I can feel anything. I thought he would be done with the filling by now...it should've been very small. He then tells me that it was a lot deeper than we thought it was and that we might need to get the endo stuff out. Endo stuff = root canal!!! WHAT?!? I'm too young to get a root canal! How could've it gotten that deep in only a matter of days since last we checked?!? I am a more than avid flosser and brusher! Well I kinda go out of it for a little bit because I am on the gas. But after the procedure was done I asked him if it was really that deep? I'm freaking out. Those of you who know me know why I am freaking out right about now. He looks at me and starts laughing.
Dentist: "I had the filling done within the first 5 minutes. The rest of the time I was pretending to drill so you would think that it was bigger!"
Me: ".....what?!"
Dentist: (chuckle)
Me: "So I don't need a root canal right?"
Dentist: "Heather that filling was tiny. You are fine."
What the heck! It's not April fools day yet! And of course they knew I would fall for it because I am the most gullible person they know! Shh don't tell anyone else.

Emanate

Spring is here! It is apparent all around campus. The flip flops and capris have emerged and you can start to see the little flowers pushing up through the ground! I love it. Spring tends to give me a new surge of energy that winter sucked out of me. It's awesome to have this new surge of energy, but it makes it so difficult to stay focused on studies when I could be playing outside, flying a kite, or going on a bike ride. Friday was a beautiful 70 degrees and Saturday was the same. I needed to run stairs around campus but I decided that hiking Waterfall Canyon would be just as good, if not better! So I grabbed my roommate and another friend and hiked up Waterfall Canyon. It was perfect hiking weather. A little breeze in the air, and the sun shining. Throughout the hike we ran into thousands of butterflies! They were everywhere! We made it to the top after about an hour and fifteen minutes, hung out by the waterfall for a bit, then started to head back down. There was still snow in some parts of the trail so it got a little slippery at times. I slipped and fell flat on my butt in the snow and had this awesome round circle of wetness on my butt for the rest of the hike. I just love being out in nature. I wish I had time to go hiking like that every day!

Push it baby

I blinked for a second, and found myself back at my apartment, spring break over, and realizing how much I need to get done and fast! Two tests this weekend followed by a bunch of art interviews that I need to go to in order for me to finish my art class! It's officially crunch time! It's hard because I feel my motivation leave a little bit everyday. I need to hang on to it just a little bit longer! Only 5 more weeks left of school!!! School is still going good and work is good but I feel that has been my life for two years now and I'm ready for some fun! I cannot tell you how excited I am to move to Provo and to just be around tons of people and to actually have some fun for once! I only have three classes to finish up before I will have my associates as well as being done with all pre-reqs for dental hygiene so as soon as I finish those up, I am just going to sit pretty, work full time, and play....that is until I get into the dental hygiene program! For now I've just got to give it my all and finish up this semester without killing myself.

Home

Home. I am finally home after spending most of my spring break working full time and coming back to an empty apartment. Yes my parents are now in Hawaii and Megan is in California....but I am home! There is just something about being home that makes me feel safe, loved, and happy.

Home is where the heart is.

One week

So I am back from my week without the computer. It made such a big difference that week. I always would catch myself almost getting on facebook to see what everyone is doing or wanting to write a story in my blog. But I was able to resist! I found I was able to get a lot more stuff done, and I loved that I read my scriptures more than twice a day and actually did a deep reading. Now to catch you up on my week. Here are just a couple of pictures.


  • Draper Temple open house - So pretty! I think that was my first time I was able to see all the rooms in a temple.
  • One of my good friends that worked with me at the dental office left us to move....twas very sad but I am happy for her and her family to get situated! I hope we keep in touch!
  • A bunch of friends and I decided Saturday that we would take a random road trip to Crystal Hot Springs - so much fun! It felt like summer and there were a couple of cute boys there :) That always helps!
  • My roommate and I decided to have a "funny picture" night! I would post some other pictures but unfortunately they are too unfortunate looking to be posted on here.
Sacrament meeting again was great, full of very wonderful talks and a very pretty musical number. Although we were short in number seeing as it is spring break. But none the less, the spirit made up for that!

Amazed

I already wrote today but I just wanted to comment on how awesome my ward is. I look forward to every fast and testimony meeting because I get to hear so many wonderful testimonies. The spirit is constantly there and is felt very strongly. It's like a spiritual feeding and I never want it to end! I've never noticed how many converts that are in my ward. Many of them bore their testimony today and you could just see how blessed and happy their life had become because of the gospel. We have a member in our ward who just joined the church last year and it's been wonderful to see the changes that he has taken because of this choice he has made. Each one of them are such great examples to me in how they live their life. I'm so thankful to be part of such a wonderful ward, with an awesome bishopric, and a ward full of strong members of the church.

This will be my last post for this week as I decided that I need to take a break from technology for a week. I know some of us fall into this trap sometimes. I feel like I am always on the computer surfing the web when I have nothing else to do. I hope that by doing this it will help me to use this extra time doing the things I really should be doing such as more scripture study, baptisms, and service. I will post again after the week is over and let you all know how things went since this week will be full of fun things that I will be doing! Until then.

Late

I know this is rather late, but I finally got the pictures from my birthday. It's weird to think now that I can no longer be called a teenager. I never thought that would ever happen! But life is just getting started and I am so excited to see where it takes me next! So here are a few pictures of my birthday along with a random picture of me snowshoeing which I was able to do with my dad during my birthday week! So much fun!

As I look a these pictures, I notice that my dad is so much tanner than I am! Oh yeah that's right....he and my mom and leaving me and the rest of the kids to go to Hawaii....I will muster all the smiles I can and wish them the best! I really do hope the have a fun time though!
