Squeal of excitment!

Sandman let me know that he got "the e-mail" from our math teacher....that told us our final score and if we passed the class. Assuming I had also gotten this dreaded e-mail, I got online and checked my mail. I had one new e-mail...and it was "the e-mail." I stared at it for five minuets, thinking that the longer I stared at it, the higher my score would magically get. I decided to finally open it and this is the reaction I had when I read it.

I am now registered for Fall semester 2008 and here lies my schedule.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday
8:00-8:50 Math 1030 (Last math class ever!)
9:00-9:50 Meteorology
10:00-10:50 Communications
11:30-12:50 Bio Med

Tuesday, Thursday
8:30-9:50 TBE (Telecommunication/Business Education)

Doesn't look too fun but my teachers are all awesome and it will be nice just to get those classes out of the way!

Third level, around the corner, by a window.

My time spent in the library as accumulated to quite an impressive number. And as sad as this might sound...I have grown rather fond of my little study place by a window. I bring my backpack full of text books, laptop, and nutritious snacks to fuel my brain as the time passes by. I try to get to my spot before a lot of people show up, because with being on the third floor, it is DEAD ..... silent. People give you weird looks when you are trying to unzip your backpack as quietly as you can. It's like in church when they are passing the sacrament and you have forgotten to unzip your scriptures so you can read them during the sacrament. You spend 5 minuets just trying to unzip your scripture case inch by inch, grimacing each time you do. Or if you're like me, you just grab the hymn book and soak in the hymns. A lot less "heads turning your way" approach. I think I need to find a little corner somewhere where there are a variety of books instead of the volumes of "ORGANIC CHEMISTRY" books that are staring me in the face. It's making me feel very uncomfortable.

Finals left:
  • Math(Monday)
  • Psychology(Monday)
  • Bio Med(Wednesday)

Finals are like time bombs...just waiting to explode in your face! The trick is to study them, so you know them inside and out; so you can cut the right wire before they explode and damage you.

My parents anniversary is today (Happy anni mom and dad!) And my cousin just got married yesterday! So many things are happening while I am gone! I will be able to make it down for my dads birthday which is going to be nice! I really do miss my family....alot....this summer is going to be a hard one. Oh well, life goes one.

This is how I feel about math sometimes....

Empty Space

I started packing up my stuff today...it made me really sad actually! I have loved living here and have come to call it my home away from home. Now looking at it...the walls are white and bare, pictures of friends and family are put away, and the closet is empty. There is too much space and empty walls that are screaming, "hang something one me!" I can't study here anymore....on to the library

A reminiscence of Oregon

It rained today. I forgot how much I love rain. The "earthy" scent that the rain brings up through the soil; the fresh like quality in the air; once departed trees and grass are now brought to life; tuning out all the noise we create and listening to the individual drops of liquid from the sky. Time feels like it's in slow motion. As I sat down, listening to the rain, a precious memory came to mind. My family and I are staying at the beach house in Oregon and it's in the wee small hours of the morning....
"It's time!"
"It's so early..."
"That's when the tide is best"
My dad would wake us up early to go down to the beach, and hunt for starfish. This is the time when the tide is low and all sorts of idiosyncratic creatures are stuck in the tide pools. My sister and I would search around for the biggest starfish that we could find, then try to pry them off before they would suck onto the rock, and once they do that....you can never get them off! My family and I have been to the beach house quite a few time, but for some reason, this memory stood out.
Dad just informed me today of the family trip this summer,(which have been on the rocks for a while) and the fam will be going to Oregon and Washington for a week! I will be able to revisit the tide, the lighthouse, and the octopus tree!

Well the dreaded finals are coming up....I just need to keep telling myself that summer is almost hear! Oh wait....no summer for Heather! I will be working pretty much full time as well as taking a couple of classes! Call me crazy but I just hope it's worth it. It's worth it right? I will have all my pre-reqs for dental hygiene done except 1 class...and most of my gen eds done...and I will have a little break off with the fam....yes it's worth it.

Mono infestation

Let me just say first off that I do not have the dreaded mono. But it's selling like hot cakes!! #2 has it as well as the whole theatre department! Talk about the worst time to get mono; the last 2 weeks before finals! Roomie #2 got a pamphlet that explained everything about mono and on the front lies the title, "So you have mono?" with a picture of a happy looking boy on the beach....sends a mixed message don't you think? Lets hope and pray that I will not be the next victim.

Did you say sexy?!?

So it's finally warm enough that I can wear my awesome bright orange shoes! You can't help but be happy when you wear them. Okay so I am on campus, heading back home because I forgot some books, leaving a message on a cute guys phone, when two random boys yelled, "Hey you have sexy shoes!" I pause right in the middle of the message I am leaving, praying he didn't just hear that! I then frantically finished my message and left with a bright red flush
consuming my face! That message will be imprinted in his mind for all eternity and because it's so ridiculous he probably will never delete it...blast!
Then returning to campus, (and I kid you not) I was atrociously attacked by two ducks sitting on a hill. Now I don't know what I did to upset these bizarre creatures but apparently I did something. I hope someone was secretly recording that hysterical moment and then turns it into Funniest Home Videos! It would win first place for sure!
Oh and that cute guy I was leaving a message for heard everything! He called me back and said, "now what was that about sexy shoes?" Ugh...so embarrassing!

Fort of Awesomeness!

Saturday night fort preparation #1: Find a big room with lots of furniture. Here is Jaymo and cute-laugh using their brains to start fabricating our fort. We moved all the couches and found as many sheets as we could in the house. Our plan was invincible...until we stumbled upon a tiny problem. We had plenty of furniture around to help support our fort, but we had nothing in the middle to hold it all up! Gasp! What should we do? Saturday night fort preparation #2: Jaymo, not willing to give up, began to scour the house for tall, sturdy objects. She found a stick which would've worked except we had nothing to hold the stick in place. We were about to give up when Jaymo came running back with a big, fake Christmas tree!! "That's perfect!," we all yelled! Blondes' really are smart eh? So we put the tree right in between the two blow-up mattresses and put some heavy books on the bottom to make sure the tree didn't fall over! It worked perfectly! "It's like sleeping in a mini forest!," I said as we draped the sheets over it. We had to tape some of the sheets to the window which proved to be more difficult then we had thought it would be. Fort preparation #3: I became the master taper and took on the challenge of the taping. Kat became the master duct taper, asking to duct tape anything in her sight :) My taping master skills help up throughout the night. To celebrate our awesome fort, we decided to play a game of "Sorry" in which I was brutally beaten at, and a game of "Old Maid," with cards way to big for even me to hold. You would think, "Old Maid," being a kid game and all, would be smart enough to make cards that little kids would be able to hold, no? Well after our little game playing we went and grabbed some ice cream and then sat in our fort and watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! Perfect movie for the perfect fort!

Saturday morning Conference

Today, Jaymo and I woke up at the crack of dawn, got in our Sunday best, and drove to Salt Lake to sing at Temple Square before conference. Before we went out to our stations to sing, they took us into theatre 3 in the north temple visitor center. There they told us that there will be protestors and that we need to let them, or the police handle them…scary! Our group of wonderful youth was like an anti-protest group. We all stood along the wall of the Temple Square gate and sang hymns for those walking by so they wouldn’t be able to hear the protestors. One man came over by our group and shouted as loud as he could. I couldn’t quite really hear what he was saying but as people crossed the road to get over to the conference center, he wished them luck, “because you’re going to need it,” he said. As he got louder, our group sang louder! Elders would walk by singing along with us as well as many others that were waiting to get across the street. It was a really neat experience actually. I kinda felt bad for the poor man that was being out sung by our group. I feel bad for all of those who don’t know the truth that this gospel brings for us.
We sang for 2 hours…and my limbs froze! I would put one hand in my coat pocket to unthaw, while the other would hold onto the hymn book. After a while it didn’t really matter, because my fingers were all numb. We had a hard time flipping the pages because our fingers were so numb, we couldn’t feel the pages! Soon after my fingers went numb, both of my legs went numb! After we were done, they took us inside and had tickets for all of us that sang to go to the morning Saturday conference! I’m so glad that I got up this morning and suffered through the cold to be able to go to this conference session. First of all, because in this session they did the solemn assembly where we voted in Thomas S. Monson and sustained him as the Prophet of the Church of Latter Day Saints and sustained those in the Quorum of the Twelve. They asked all the men to stand a sustain Thomas S. Monson as our Prophet and I got the chills as all the men in the conference center stood up and raised their right hand to sustain him. They then had all the women stand up and do the same. What a neat experience! The Mormon Tabernacle Choir did an awesome job, (Go mom!) and my favorite song that they did that morning session was the very last song, “Come Follow Me.” It was a beautiful arrangement, one that I had never heard and it gave me chills as well. I think that was my first time ever, watching conference in the conference center! It was defiantly easier for me to stay awake, although I couldn’t quite say that for my friend Cadet. He fell asleep a couple of times and started snoring once!
