I've come to love watching people; studying them; trying to figure out why they do what they do; what weird quirks lie in themselves. I could spend hours in a mall, park, or grocery store, just watching. I jotted down a couple of notes and talked with my roommate about what I had found. I soon come to realize that she has done the same thing, except she started with me. It was very interesting to see myself and what weird quirks I have through another persons eyes. For instance, she caught me flossing my teeth at least 4 times a day. Most people would find that a little weird but to me it's every day living.
I can say that I am not a "neat freak" but I guess you could say that I like to organize. My closet contains all my shirts hanged up from short sleeve, medium sleeve, to long sleeve. They are also organized by color. My shoes (the many that I have) are also organized by style and how often I wear them.
Music pretty much never leaves me. The first thing I do when I wake up is turn on some music. The first thing I do when I come home is turn on some music. I brush my teeth twice when I wake up. First I brush right when I wake up. Then I brush after eating breakfast for exactly 3 minutes.
I sleep flat on my back and don't move around; and I usually have to set my alarm to go off early because I know that I will push the "snooze" button at least twice.
When I paint my fingernails, (and that is rare) I usually start to pick it off the day after.
I hate to write with pencils, and usually only like to use a blue pen when writing.
After looking at the little quirks I was able to find along with my roommate, as weird as this sounds, I feel like I know myself a little better. Sometimes you kind of lose yourself and forget what you do that makes you, you! Well as for me, I have just become reacquainted with myself. I know who I am and am grateful for the little quirks that make me different from all the other Heathers in the world.
Heather it's called OCD. Call Grandma and have her look it up in the Merck manual. Good luck with a cure.
